The unincorporated village of Stone City, located in the west-central part of Jones County, has approximately 200 residents .  The signature stone buildings and history of the hamlet make this village a mecca for visitors.  Stone City was the location of Grant Wood’s, famous Iowa artist, Art Colony in 1932 and 1933.
