Grant Wood Country
Grant Wood, famous American painter best known for his rural landscapes and American Gothic, was born in Anamosa, IA. Later in life, he started his Art Colony in Stone City, and is buried in Riverside Cemetary.
Antioch School
The Antioch School is the one room school house where Wood attended school as a child. It is located just East of Anamosa on Highway 64. The Paint & Palatte Club takes care of the property.
Grant Wood Art Gallery
The Grant Wood Art Gallery is located at 124 E. Main St. in Anamosa. The Art Gallery shares information about Wood’s history. They feature a large collection of American Gothic parodies, a chair that he designed and prints for sale.
Riverside Cemetary
Grant Wood was laid to rest in 1942 in this cemetary located just North of the Wapsipinicon River in Anamosa.
